DES MOINES, Iowa – On Thursday, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency. The proclamation extends the public health mitigation measures that are currently in place, including the requirement to maintain social distancing in bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and similar venues. And it extends many of the regulatory relief measures previously implemented.

She also noted that school athletics may resume in the fall.

“The proclamation also clarifies that all team athletic activities may now resume according to guidance being provided by the Department of Education, the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union,” Reynolds told reporters during a press conference on Thursday.

The State Public Health Emergency Declaration proclamation is in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020.
